Minnow Run ("the app", "we", "us") is a one-tap arcade game for iPhone and Android: tap to swim, weave the plants, dodge the fish. This policy explains what data the app uses, why, and who it is shared with. The app has no accounts, runs no analytics of its own, and we do not sell your personal information. It is made for families, and every player is treated as a child for advertising purposes.
Data we collect and use
- Advertising identifier, ad data & diagnostics. The app shows a full-screen ad between runs through Google AdMob. The Google Mobile Ads SDK collects a device identifier (on Android, your device's advertising ID and app set ID; on iPhone, the app never asks for permission to track you, so Apple's advertising identifier is not available to it), your interactions with ads, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and diagnostic information about your device and this app (device model, operating system version, app version, and technical error details). Google uses that data to serve and measure ads, to keep its SDK working, and to detect ad fraud. The app asks Google for child-directed, non-personalized ads at a "G" content rating for every player, whatever their age.
- Game updates. When it starts, the app checks Expo's update service (EAS Update) for a newer version of the game, so fixes can arrive without a trip to the store. The check sends technical details (the app's platform, version and update channel, which updates it has, and whether a recent one failed to start) and a random installation ID that the app creates for this purpose, which the service uses to deliver updates, for example to roll one out gradually. It contains nothing about you and none of your game data.
- Technical data. The game itself needs no internet connection. The app's only network traffic is the ad requests and the update check described above, and as with any internet request, standard network information (such as your IP address) is visible to the services contacted.
- Crash data. The app sends no crash reports, usage statistics, or diagnostic events to us. We run no crash-reporting or analytics service of our own. Apart from the ad SDK data and the update check described above, the app transmits no diagnostic data.
- On-device game data. The three-letter initials you choose, your scores, the skins you have unlocked, and your music and sound settings are stored locally on your device. They are not transmitted to us or stored on any server we operate, and they are not sent to Google.
The app has no user accounts and does not ask for your name, email, contacts, photos, location, microphone, or any other personal information. There is no chat, no messaging, no social features, and nothing to buy, and the only link out of the app is to this privacy policy, on the About card behind the settings gear. We do not operate our own servers that store your personal data.
Advertising
We use Google AdMob to show a full-screen ad between runs, no more than once every few runs. Because the app is made for families, it tells Google to treat every player as a child: ads are requested as non-personalized, at a "G" content rating, and flagged as child-directed and under the age of consent. Google may still use the device data above to serve and measure those ads and to detect fraud. The app never asks anyone to consent to personalized ads or to tracking, in any country, the EEA, UK and Switzerland included: instead of showing a consent prompt, it tells Google that every player is under the age of consent, and no ad it requests is personalized. You can learn about and control this through Google's advertising policies. On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID under Settings → Privacy → Ads. On iPhone, the app never asks for permission to track you, so there is no advertising identifier for it to use.
Crash and diagnostic reporting
We do not operate a crash-reporting or analytics service. This app does not send us crash reports, error events, or usage statistics, and there is no server of ours for them to go to. Diagnostic details about your device and this app are collected by the Google Mobile Ads SDK described under Advertising above and are handled under Google's privacy policy. That ad-related data does not include your initials, scores, or skins, because the app never sends them anywhere.
Children
Minnow Run is designed for families and is appropriate for children. We do not collect personal information from anyone, children included: the app never asks for a name, email, location, photos, or contacts, and the initials you enter are three letters that stay on your device. Ads are requested as child-directed and non-personalized at a "G" content rating for every player, as described above. There are no in-app purchases, no user-to-user interaction, and no links out of the app apart from this privacy policy.
Your choices
- On Android, reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in your device's ad settings.
- Turn music and sound on or off in the app.
- Uninstall the app to remove all locally stored initials, scores, skins, and settings.
Data retention & security
Your game data remains on your device until you uninstall the app. Data collected by the ad SDK is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections and retained by Google under its own policy.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
